Bummed I didn't get chosen this time...I'll keep my eye out for a few foul balls out in the woods!

Thank you, Titleist for allowing me to test these two balls.

My handicap is 12, i played rounds with both the Red and Black.
I had a better game with the Black. Tracking tee shots (with Driver) experienced a bit more distance with the Black...5 to 8 yds. overall. (Variables involved like my contact with the ball, into wind, with the wind, slope, etc.)
Pitch/chips checked up nicely, with a little roll out which I like. Did not notice anything I can think of that stood out with either with the mid irons.
I liked each with the putter. Both rolled very nice and felt much the same off the putter to me.

I don't typically play the PRO V1 balls as I don't think I have the swing for them to get the distance I need, but I did have a great game with the Black ball.

I played a couple of rounds this weekend with the RED numbered 2027 prototype balls. For me, they feel a bit softer off the putter. The distance was very minimally longer (maybe 3-5 yards) off the driver and the spin seemed a bit higher than the current ProV1x. The cover also seems to be a bit more durable, 18 holes and no visual scuffs or discoloration.

To me, they seem like an incrementail improvement.

I like the ball and will play a few more rounds with them.

I had a nice experience with the new red proto. I compared on the course and on my GC Quad. Feels slightly better to me, driver spinning 200 rpm less and irons spinning 400 rpm more. Launch angle pretty similar all the way around. Ball speed 2-3 mph faster with driver. Partial wedge shots spin more as well with nice stopping power, but I really stink at these, so proper contact would also be an improvement for me..........LOL. On the course I did notice subtle differences, but I don't think I could really articulate outside of the feel and stopping power with wedges. Thankfully the launch monitor could show me numerically what I was seeing on the course. I game nothing other than the Pro v1x currently and will gladly switch when these come out.

Played three rounds with the same red # prototype. It is great. A little longer with the driver and a little more spin on short chips near the green. Didn’t notice anything with the other clubs. The ball feels a slightly softer than the current model but not by much. I liked the harder ball vs the black ProV1 when putting but this one is very good. If this is what comes out, I switch immediately

Cannot wait to read all the comments on their white box results! Always exciting!!
  6. Anyone in Germany received the box already?
Guess there is no pre-warning? Either you get them or not?

I've played 2 rounds with the proto reds and Driver carry and roll out are very similar to what I see on my course compared with ProV1x but maybe a few more yards. Approach carry numbers are what I expect however from my mid irons to GW it releases 2-3 more yards on the green than ProV1x. Same amount more of release on pitch and chip shots. I don't hate it but definitely prefer my regular ball.
  8. When did you get selected to test the new proto? I was asked about it too but never heard back.

Ii must thank Titleist for picking me for the test, it was a hhonor.

I found that the prototype very similiar to the Pro V1X i play. The numbere were red i felt comfortable hitting 2 separate belks to understand if there was a difference. I felt the prototype and it appeared harder eith the cover harder. I good thing is that igained a couple of yards throughout the bag. Pitching and chipping appeared different and appeared to react different on the green. The prov1x for me stops faster and does not release. The prototype appeared to stay on line more with the putter and felt softer coming off the blade. The simple alignment line was adequatel. As playing the prototype, would (like all ball changes wiukd take some time to get use to it. I assume these were fresh off the golf ball line which will also help it react differently with distance.

I found this golf ball to be an excellent choice and would use as soon as it is available
  10. Got my white box this week. I didn't notice until reading this forum led me to look closer they are marked 27 Proto. I assume red numbers mean they are Pro V1X proto's. Can’t wait to take them out this week!
    Thanks Team Titleist

Thank you the prototype 27 concept ball. Really enjoyed the ball so far. Hitting into greens seem to very similar to the left dash that I use. It’s been poor weather lately so I have been hitting on my mevo gen2. Really good results. Littlle less spin off my driver about 200-300. My irons seems to be maybe little more but only by 200 rpm’s. Feels good off all the clubs. Seems very durable at this time.

I played the Proto black #1 over the weekend in our member/member. Noticed pretty quickly it was longer off the tee for me compared to the ProV1 I play normally. GTS3 15 degree metal wood normally 250-260 yards but this ball I easily pushed it out there well past those numbers. Normally hit this 3 metal wood off #7 a good par 4 dog leg left at 391 yards and with this Proto I was 70 yards from the middle flag and off #8 a short par 4 at 310 yards and I'm normally in lob wedge distance but with this ball it put me just 5 yards short of the putting surface. I figured when I saw the distance this ball was going there had to be a trade off and it was in the wedges for me. I felt like this ball didn't have the soft feel I'm use to with the PROV1 so my wedges were not as good and the putter faired about as well. I switched back to PROV1 for scoring. I did like the Proto for distance. Let's see what happens with the future ball.

Huge Thank You to Team Titleist for including me in the mix to test out the 2027 Prototype Black Number . I played three rounds with them. I found them to be more of a complete ball, soft, distance and spin was terrific. I think it was slightly longer off the tee than the previous ball and putting is was classic soft...just right. A high quality ball. I would also like to try the red version for comparison when available. Thanks again I will order them with my mark when they come out. Keep up that great Titleist quality!

I was asked to complete survey for possible product testing and about a month later was asked for my shipping information "to ensure I receive any necessary materials" but haven't heard back or received anything yet. Is this timeline normal?

First time being involved with any possible product testing.

Same thing on my end, I received that email on 9/23. However, today I checked my FedEx app for an unrelated reason and I had a label created from Titleist Performance. I didn't order anything, so I can only assume it may be some white box protos.

Yep that's when I received my email as well.

Welp time to refresh my FedEx account until I see an update haha

The prototype pre-marketing sample balls are by far and away the most likely product evaluation we will see. Even so, several hundred boxes across the thousands of TT members is still low probability. Actual proof of design equipment does involve everyday golfers but number in the 10’s and mostly close to the design facilities in MA and CA.
15 years ago, I hit a couple of cycles in a row, but this is the first year in a decade I got a box unexpectedly in the mailbox. They have my address in either/both my profile and with Titleist direct. Stay engaged with a complete profile and you might get lucky. Do note, the ball in your profile corresponds well with the prototype release. Few AVX or Tour Soft users were included with the Pro-V1 and X release this cycle.

Like the new ProV1. Felt better off driver and long irons. A little softer maybe. Did gain yards! Around the greens also very good. Did compare last year’s ProV1 with the white box ProV1 on a quad simulator. I liked the white box ProV1 even more. A little less spin with my driver delivered about 3 to 4 yards more on average. With the longest about 9 yards more.

I had the privilege of using the black 27 Proto last weekend, where I played 36 holes with it. I was incredibly impressed with some aspects of the ball's performance. Here are the highlights for me:

Putting: I honestly can't recall a ball rolling so well for me. I am not what you would call a great putter by any stretch of the imagination, but these Proto 27's rolled incredibly well, held their line, and just went in more often. They made me look and feel like I was putting above my ability level. 34 putts is incredible for me.

Approach shots: From 100-150 yards, the ball felt and acted like I expected. It responded like a ProV1. Where things got more interesting for me, was the 150-200 yard approach shots. It could have been the cool fall weather, maybe it was the company, but this is where the ball stood out for me once again. The ball was incredibly workable, held up against the wind, and held greens better than my current ProV1. It did exactly what I needed it to do, and I was continually impressed.

Everything else was what I would expect, and I was not unhappy with any aspect of the ball's playability, durability, or any other characteristics.

    Thanks for the opportunity!
