I am a 9.7 handicap and I play the AVX 95% of the time. I tested the proto type balls and I was thoroughly impressed! These balls are 10yds longer off my irons and 15-20yds longer off the driver. They have excellent feel and are easy to control! Great spin around the greens too! I don't know if it's going to be an improved pro v or avx but either one would be an upgrade! I really want to know as these will be my new choice in balls!
  2. I received my white boxes from Titleist about a month ago...total surprise. I saw a tracking number from Acushnet, and figured maybe I had ordered something and forgot about it? They seemed to be a new version of the AVX - pattern looked similar and they seemed very soft overall. I typically play a PV1 and these protos were longer off the tee; approach shots were very easy to work with lots of spin around the greens. I play at a 10 and typically play 2-3x weekly.
  3. Thank you for the surprise in the mail. I am 65 and a mid handicap player. I really liked the ball, they felt a-lot like the AVX, which is the ball I play with, although a little firmer, and a little harder for me to control around the green. I gave one to my partner who is a 9 handicap, and he loved it. He plays with Pro V1's, and TM TP5's
  4. From the moment I opened the sleeve, the presentation screamed “premium.” Clean packaging, simple “PROTO” stamping, classic Titleist R&D style. I knew I was holding something special.

    Performance Testing (On-Course)

    Feel:
Exceptionally soft off the face, especially with wedges and putter. Noticeably softer than my current Pro V1, but still crisp not mushy.

    Distance:
Driver and long irons had plenty of pop. I saw a slight uptick in carry distance (+3–5 yards), particularly in warm conditions with moderate wind. Launch felt a touch higher than my Pro V1.

    Spin & Control:
This ball stopped on a dime. Short irons checked quickly, and I could trust it to hold greens even on firmer surfaces. Around the greens, the spin control was phenomenal. Lots of bite without sacrificing feel.

    Durability:
Played a full round with one sleeve and they held up great. Minimal scuffing, even after bunker shots and tree line adventures.

I’m a 5 handicap and played the proto balls several weeks ago against the AVX that I normally play. The feel might have been a little softer on the proto ball, but the other aspects (off the driver, irons and putting), seemed comparable between the two balls. I liked the proto ball.

Sidenote: I played the proto ball yesterday with a new set of T250s that I just got fit for a couple of weeks ago. Combo of the new irons and proto ball were great. Someone please message me and let me know what ball I tested. Please!
  6. I received a white box of the 2026 prototype golf balls here’s my analysis.
Putting- it felt great on the face of the putter and rolled good without having any lumps in the rolling.

Wedges- it generated a lot of spin really quick when chipping short sided and it rolls out nice when chipping mid and long greens and so far it stays close to impact point when hitting between 50-120 yards

Irons- feels very compressed when hitting an iron not overly hard or soft feels just right and the ball flight is very workable with the ball

Driving- feels great off the face but just a little on the softer side with driving but in all I would give it a 9.6 out of 10 it’s just to soft on driving to give it a 10 but the dimples are very prominent which I like.
  7. I received the white box and fell in love. I usually play a Tour Soft but something about this ball was clicking every round and felt much better. Off the tee was longer, second/third shots seemed controlled and I swear I haven’t dropped as many so close to the pin this season as I did with this ball. Putting too, no line great feel and roll. They cleaned off well and didn’t scuff quickly. I gave some to my friends because I’m too nice but totally regret it now. Please let me know what ball it was so I can get more instead of feeling this deep regret haha 14HC

If you’ve received 2026 prototype White Box golf balls over the summer, this is the official discussion thread to share your thoughts with the rest of Team Titleist.

We would specifically love to hear about the following performance characteristics:

    • Feel: putter, wedges, and full shots

    • Flight: launch, trajectory, and wind performance

    • Spin: short game control and stopping power

    • Distance & Consistency: off the tee and through the bag

    A few tips when posting:

    • Share your handicap or general skill level for context

    • Be specific (comparisons to your current gamer are helpful)

You are among the first golfers in the world to test this new golf ball, and your feedback is greatly appreciated in advance. We can’t wait to hear what you think!

I played with the new prototype balls and I liked the way they felt. According to my GPS watch, it seemed that driving and hybrid distances were slightly greater than the ProV1 or ProV1X. They felt soft around the greens and responded well to spin. Ball flight on the drive was a little higher than what I'm used to so I tee'd it a little lower.

I didn't have anything to measure spin off of the tee...but if I had to guess, I'd say there was less spin as the ball flight tracked straighter even on the occasional outside to inside swing. There was some fade but I never missed a fairway. It seemed also like the ball did not have the height off the tee. It was definitely lower than a ProV1X...maybe not as low as a ProV1...but with the distance of the AVX.

When I played with the balls, it was usually in wet conditions (as is usual in SW FL) during the summer months. Consequently, there is very little roll when your ball hits the fairway after the drive...or on approach shots to a green with a false front. Distances measured by GPS were air carry distances vs. carry + roll.
  10. It was a really nice surprise to come home and find this box on my doorstep. Played two rounds with them and compared them in a variety of shots to my standard AVX. I would say it performed just as good and slightly better than my current one. Felt a little hotter off the putter face but had a great roll. Noticed on wedges and irons that it had pretty good stopping power, and close to the same spin around the greens as an AVX. I did play a few holes side by side vs my current ball and found it to be very similar but dispersion was slightly less and overall I scored better. Not sure if that was the ball or me concentrating a bit more because I didn't want to drop a proto ball in a backyard :)
  11. I am a 7 handicap and I received a white box with 2 sleeves of balls with PROTO on them but no other distinguishing stamping. The dimple pattern was similar to the AVX I play regularly.
The balls felt a bit “clickier” than the AVX off wedges around the green and off the putter. I chipped and putted exclusively the first few days I had them and I fell in love with the control I had. A little less roll out than the AVX, but a little more than the ProV1 & ProV1x I was hitting them against.
The first full round I played with them I was initially disappointed as I scuffed the cover with my first full 7 iron swing on the first hole. I was worried I would destroy the ball in a few holes! However, that was the only noticeable scuff at the end of the round despite hitting multiple trees and a chain link fence along the range!
Off the tee the ball was as long as anything I’ve played, but not noticeably longer. Iron distances were very consistant and the ball just flies straight. The same reason I love the AVX.

  12. I am an 8.7 handicap. Was lucky and surprised when I received the box of protos. I immediately hit the course. I played 4 rounds with the proto balls. The ball reminded me of an AVX with a slightly softer cover. I currently am using Pro V1x. The proto got me additional 10 yards on my drive v Pro V1x. Also my drive had a higher trajectory than normal. With my irons, was able to shape it better and get some spin with the proto. Around the greens is where I felt the difference. Was able to get up and down on several holes with the proto. Maybe it was the day, but in this case, I'll say it was due to the proto :) Hoping the proto comes out to the masses asap!

Appreciate the opportunity to test and look forward to the next testing!

  13. Feel: Very soft off the putter. Would say a little bit softer then the last model of the Pro V. Lands very soft and spinny off the wedges, and full shots seem the minimize the misses extraordinarily.

Flight: high launch of the face and very poppy. Wind still plays a factor off the tee and is comparible to past models of the titelist we all know and love.

Spin: This is where the new prototype ball excels most. This ball plays tremendous around the greens. The check on the ball is very nice and predictable.

Distance & Consistency: Off the tee the ball carries similar to the past Pro V models maybe adding a few yards.

Cosmetically the ball looks fantastic with a new dimple pattern. The pattern is less dome shaped and more flat on the inside of the dimple.

My handicap is 14.4 and I have been avidly golfing for the past 3 years. I typically play 2 rounds a week during peak season.

Thank you to Titleist team for allowing me to test out the new prototypes. I can’t wait to see what is produced and sent to test in the future!

  14. As a high-handicap (24), the demo balls flew 10-15 yards farther than my ProV-1’s, bit well on my pitches to the green, and overall exceeded my expectations. Happy to demo others if you intend on tweaking this version.
  15. Got these in the mail and used them right away. They felt a little heavier, but I loved the ball flight and I seemed to hit them farther and straighter than normal. Great control around the greens. Had backspin I never knew I could do. Hopefully will receive some more since I have unfortunately lost them. Had one of my friends try them and he loved them too. Did not lose any till after about 5-6 rounds. Great ball in my opinion. Thank you for sending them to me.
  16. I received the lucky white box this season whoo hoop! Now for the part that’s gonna make some of you mad. I’m pretty much a beginner. If I hit it and I can find it it’s a good shot! Having said that I do know when I’m out of my league with a ball. If there isn’t some form of the word soft on it it’s probably not for me. Having said that I have played about 27 holes with one of these balls! Very forgiving, and they stay straight for me. Up close to the green even I can get enough spin on them to get them to stop with my 48 degree wedge. I don’t know what these are but I love them. Sorry!
  17. I used the Prototype balls sent tome by Titleist. I mostly use the Titleist AVX balls. The balls they sent me seemed very much the same, although I would say that they held the greens better. I didn’t notice. A lot of difference in the distance I was hitting my woods and irons. I would say these prototypes were very similar to the AVX balls I have been using.
  18. 10 hc, the proto ball seemed too soft and spinny for my liking. After a full wedge or bunker shot there always seemed to be a couple new tears. The dimples reminded me of an avx which at first looked interesting and new but after a couple holes it started looking more like a wilson typed ball instead of a pro v or avx.
  19. It's been a good while since testing white box prototype, so I was excited to experience new technologies.
Currently playing to a 4.2 handicap and golfball of choice is the Titleist AVX model

I normally see a higher trajectory from driver and irons, so the AVX helps keep me in a slightly lower launch window.
This prototype ball flew slightly higher than what I'm used to seeing.
Spin and feel with irons was excellent, especially around the greens.
Feel with putter was softer I thought and sounded good.
I noticed the carry distance was longer on a few holes as well.
Would definitely put these in play.
    Thank you for the opportunity

  20. i was very happy with the ball the flight was high felt soft and fairly consistent
