I had a shoulder injury in April and surgery in July, so between the injury, surgery, and recovery, it could be a year before I take a full swing.
I live a little over an hour from Pinehurst and thought a visit would scratch my golf itch. My wife was kind enough to come along to the main clubhouse at Pinehurst No. 2 and the Titleist Shop.
There was so much to see in the way of golf memorabilia, and the putting course was a ton of fun for both of us. The clubhouse store and the Barrel restaurant were reasonably priced, and the selection and service at both were excellent.
But the star for me was the standalone Titleist shop next to the putting course. The facility was pure Titleist: understated class with purposeful design. Just super classy.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, with just the right amount of southern hospitality. The product selection was vast, and there were several Titleist items I'd never seen before, much less had the chance to buy.
I planned on a hat and maybe a shirt, but man, was I wrong. I walked out with a Titleist sweatshirt, Pro V1X, and a new Scotty Cameron Studio Style Fastback OC. I also picked up the Scotty/Pinehurst headcover, which is only available with the purchase of a new Scotty putter at the Titleist Shop. I used the Fastback OC on the putting course and it felt buttery smooth and was a dream to line up, it felt like it had been my gamer for years.
While we were checking out, the young lady ringing us up noticed my Scotty golf shirt and asked if I was a fan. That started a great conversation between two Scotty fanatics.
It was an awesome experience. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a great day of golf, even without a single full swing.
