As I was getting ready to warm up this morning, was in our parking lot talking with a young man about golf, of course. He works as a caddy at the Ocean Course at Kiawah. The Caddies play at our Muni, tough greens and a good course to better their game. He also holds our course record of 64 during tournament play. He told me was getting ready to head out to Q school outside Jackson, MS in a few weeks. A tough road and wished him well. Asked him what ball he played and he said Prov1, of course. Threw him a sleeve, thanked me and off he went. Has a game I dream off. Nice young man. We share one other thing, the same fitter.
Did a little research on Connor Doyal. Like to share to my fellow members.
Connor Doyal — Amateur Golf Star and PGA Tour Qualifier
Connor Doyal is a 27‑year‑old American golfer best known for his strong amateur career, multiple national titles, and recent PGA Tour qualifying success, despite never playing college golf
Career Overview
Doyal, from Charleston, South Carolina, has built an impressive résumé in the mid‑amateur and professional amateur circuits. He has won the South Carolina Mid‑Amateur, the Terra Cotta Invitational, and placed in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Mid‑Amateur. In 2026, he qualified for the PGA Tour’s Myrtle Beach Classic via the Monday Qualifier, posting a 7‑under 65 at TPC Myrtle Beach — tying the low round of the day and securing one of four qualifier spots. This was a breakthrough moment after years of building his game as a caddie and competitor.
Background and Path to Golf
Doyal never played college golf. He was a state championship team member as a high school junior but burned out in his senior year and chose not to compete in college. He enrolled at Auburn University as an engineering major, which limited his golf time until the COVID‑19 pandemic allowed him to return to competition. He worked as a full‑time caddie at Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course in South Carolina, a role that gave him time to practice and stay connected to the game. His competitive drive was reignited after winning the South Carolina Mid‑Amateur and other amateur events
Notable Achievements
- South Carolina Mid‑Amateur Champion
- Terra Cotta Invitational Winner
- U.S. Mid‑Amateur Quarterfinalist

Doyal is known for his competitive “chip on his shoulder” and love of golf as both a passion and a profession. He has said that caddying and meeting players has been one of his favorite parts of the game, and he enjoys finding players who “really love golf in their own right”
