It happened in April 2026. I still considered myself a beginner, but I was getting more and more into golf and enjoying it more than anything else. I had gotten myself a new club that I absolutely loved.
At hole 17, an uphill par 3, the pin was near the top of a green that sloped downhill. I hit my favorite 4-hybrid, which normally gives me about 125 yards, and absolutely crushed it. I watched the beautifully hit ball land between the bunker right next to the green and the green itself, and then it quickly disappeared.
I didn’t think for even a second that it might have gone into the hole. I thought it had probably rolled downhill and I just couldn’t see it from the tee box.
But when I got to the green, I couldn’t find my ball.
I couldn’t believe it could have rolled that far into the rough. It had been a great shot, and there was plenty of green behind the pin. After searching for a few minutes, I finally decided to drop another ball and chip.
Then, as I got closer to the hole, I looked down.
There was my ball, with my initials on it, sitting in the hole.
I was in shock.
It was pure luck. But you know what? I’ll take that kind of luck anytime and every time it happens. I immediately sent a photo to my family, who all play golf. No one could believe it.
But I’m just glad it happened. It was an amazing experience, and one I will never forget.
