    Try hitting it straight!!!
    Find an instructor with a trackman and video, and see what they come up with.

    An instructor can easily identify an out to in swing path. That is the number one cause.

    That is also the best person to identify the cause of that swing. With multiple possibilities, the instructor will identify it with 3 slices an a camera. Then give you drills to relearn your swing.

    Sometimes when I have the slice for the day with my driver I take the stance like trying to hit a draw. Linebyour ball up with your feet and all that like you normally do, place the ball 1 ball infront of where you normally do and the. Drop that back foot. It works for me and it’s literally my new stance for driver now. Idk it works but It does for me! Hope this helps

    A slice is caused by side spin. The more loft on a club the more back spin the club imparts which helps counteract the side spin.

    I always thought that I lined up my shots with my feet and the PGA pro I went to asked me if I hit my shots with my feet. I laughed and said not hardly. I listed to what he had to say about my stance and set up from there and he cured my slice to a slight cut and started hitting it in the middle. Lee, please go see a professional. I worked with him yesterday, again on placement and my biggest issue overswinging. Not all of us swing the same and not all of us have the same problems. That is the only advice we offer, if we are trying to help someone. Go see a professional with an open mind.

    Might add that he explained that the swing alignment begins above not below the waist. After working with me and making me a believer, it did work. With respect.

    I second this... you can get 100's of opinions but go see a teaching professional and spend some time with them so they can help you.

    Yes, yes, yes...best advice is to go to a qualified instructor. However, just looking at your picture posted in the original post it looks like the club is finishing down your back instead of around your neck. That's the tell-tale sign of a steep downswing. How you're getting there can be best identified by an instructor but for starters you can do a little self analysis. Get into a good finish position with the shaft going around your neck and backwards engineer how you are swinging through impact. It may be as simple as you stopping your upper body rotation. Again, professional instruction would be able to identify what could be a variety of swing faults.

    Hey Lee,

    Driver requires an ascending swing.

    The reason you hit Fairway woods and hybrids well is they require a descending swing with shoulders level at address. Next time you go to the range, try to lower right shoulder at address, for a right handed golfer, have the feeling that your left shoulder is pointing up at the sky. Have the ball position forward, in line with left toe, then hit up on the ball with driver. Slice should go right away.

    Strange game, yet most Tour players claim they actually hit slightly down on the driver, and we're still being taught to hit up. Somewhere in the middle is what works best for us.

    Strange game indeed Edward K. Those guys on tour also have a +115 club head speed and can hit down on a driver but us amateurs do well to go with an ascending strike. Whatever works for the individual - right?

    Again, hard to correct a swing fault without seeing your swing. Go get professional help. I hit the ball pretty straight and a cut (controlled slice) because of my instructor. Takes time and practice. This cannot be accomplished on this site. Sorry guys.

    No need for a PGA instructor, some of these people obviously have more money to spend or no more obligations. Record yourself, then watch in slow motion this will show if you are coming over the top. Then work on fixing it.

    My teacher is a +5 handicap, he has a teacher! My Director of Golf is a +6, he has a teacher. The journey for those that want to improve never ends!

    Driver should be a different stance than all other clubs as you’re effectively trying to hit up on the ball. hitting down on it can produce a squeeze cut that can easily become a slice of your face is too open.

    As others have said, a couple lessons would help but try setting up with the ball just inside the front foot, widen stance and try not to cover the ball through impact.

    Your driver swing and setup should be different from every other club in your bag. All of you hybrids, irons and wedges have a downward angle of attack. Your fairway woods should be slightly downward or almost zeroed. The driver is the only club that the angle of attack is upwards.

    My thought process is to setup with the ball underneath my left armpit and keep my head behind the ball as I hit with my driver. I try to get my head more forward with every other club and cover the ball with my chest.

    There are several videos on here that will help with your setup and swing.

    For me it helped to just get a swing lesson once. Struggled with a slice and he gave me a few drills that I just did for a few weeks.
    Now I hit it straighter.
    So just get a lesson from your local pro. It will help more than comments on a picture of your finish.

    I agree with the above comments. Here are my basic thoughts:

    1. is your grip consistent with driver & hybrids? too weak could cause this
    2. is your ball position too far forward?
    3. are you really trying to swing hard? that could cause an over the top or out to in swing plane
    4. drivers are more difficult to hit due to the lowest loft of all clubs. Hybrids are significantly easier to hit

    I like the idea of taking a video, but as you said, you're fairly new to the game. As such, you might not know what you're looking at or how to correct. As a newer player, it wouldn't hurt to take a few lessons to build solid fundamentals. The instructor will be able to diagnose what's happening, give you fixes and you'll end up a better player with a better plan much faster.
