I've seen a brand new set of AP1 714s at a good price but they've got XP95s in stiff fitted and i wondered how stiff they are compared to say Project X? Are they more 5.5 than 6 ??? I'm currently at the firm end of regular and am not sure whether to take the plunge or not. Any advice would be gratefully received. thank you.

I have XP95 stiff in my irons and wedges, and regular flex in my hybrids and woods. I think it's on the soft stiff/firm regular side, but if you want more comfort in your decision go to TrueTemper.com and do their online fitting recommendation. It turns out for me, if I hit my 7 iron 150 yards then it kept recommending stiff for me in the XP95 and not regular- so I kept the stiff.
  3. If you're fitted for the stiffer end of regular flex I wouldn't see much of a problem. You will probably gain a few yards. You may also lose some accuracy if your swing speed isn't up to the stiff shafts. I use regular flex and never seem to have problem hitting stiff flex clubs. I find it's hard to hit clubs with lots of flex. Too much whip ball goes all over the place. Love my 714's!

I would recommend you get a fitting done...or at least use the True Temper online fitting guide...but be HONEST about the questions. This year I went from playing stiff shafts to regular...and while it might be a bit of a deflation of the ego...I found that the change really helped me. My driver SS is 95mph...and regular is just fine for that.

Hi Drew, I've played XP95s stiff for years. They are designed for light weight and high trajectory, and they deliver both with a soft feel. I was fitted for Project X 6.0 but decided they felt too harsh for me. They also have a lower trajectory. I find when I play a flex too soft, I miss to the right.
