  1. New to the site, have read through many old discussions on here and wanted to get a more up to date bit of advice. ive recently just sold all of my cally clubs (big bertha 2014, cally apex irons and wedges). my step brothers have always been Titleist guys and i have decided i want to follow the gang after i hit the 714 ap1 and ap2 at a store. Now my real question is, is there much difference between the 712 and 714? the 712 will be cheaper no doubt and fitting is a little too pricey for me. also the same question goes for the 913 and 915 d2 driver?

    Many thanks

    Nathan

  2. The iron forgiveness with the 716 is massive, however the 712 to 714 was smaller. The woods was a large jump also between the 913 and 915 IMHO.

I agree with Chris, I think the 716s are great and currently play the 716 CBs. If you are going to go with the 712 irons then I would definitely suggest going with the 915 driver. I have played the 910, 913, and 915 and IMHO the 915 is far and away the best driver Titleist has made. Little more cost upfront but you will not be disappointed.
  4. Yeah i made the mistake of hitting a 915 D2 in a shop over here and instantly fell in love with. 310 on the simulator in work shoes. felt incredible. bit of advice is possible, if im going all in on Titleist how long with this gear last me? 5 seasons easily? also you think the 714's will still be relevant in 5 years?
  5. I have the 714 ap1 irons. I hit them pretty well. They have a great feel even when miss hit a little. Great irons. I have 913 woods, they were a little tricky for me to get used to after the previous woods I owned were more forgiving, but the 913 are good. I also have the 915d2 driver, best driver I have hit to date.

I currently play 714 AP2's which I moved to from 712 AP2's. Shafts on the two sets are different, but the impact feel and workability in my opinion is very similar. I would expect similar ball flight from my 712 AP2's if I had the same shafts as the 714's have in them. One thing to note is that the standard lofts in the 712 AP2's are weaker than the 714's so for that reason, I would go with the 714's between the two. My 712's are bent strong to actually match the lofts in 710 AP1's which I have as well. I went from a 910 D2 to a 915 D2 so do not have any real input on that, other than to say that I do not regret purchasing the 915 as I picked up about 10 yards distance in comparison. I do have a 913F 3 metal (15 degree) and it performs just fine.

I hope I don't confuse you. I jumped from the 910D3 to the 915D2 driver and really saw a lot of improvement. I had the original AP2s and purchased the 714 AP2s and loved them, but am turning 70 and felt I needed something a little more forgiving so I just received my new 716 AP1s. Took them to the driving range today and did hit them straighter but the wind was blowing rather hard today and hopefully on my first round tomorrow I can see the difference in performance. I also have a 913F 15* (set at 14.25*), 915H 18* (set at 17.25*) 816 19*(set at 21*) and at 913h 24* (set at 23.25*). I love all these clubs, but will probably get a new Fairway in October when they come out. Each year the improvement by Titleist has been over the top. I always go to a demo day and get fitted for each club to ensure that I have the right piece of equipment. A fitting will save you money in the long run by having the right clubs. Nothing more frustrating than constantly hitting bad shots because you do not have the right clubs. Titleist is doing free fittings on Thursdays. Check to see if they're in your area.
