    Hello Titleist players,

I am stuck between the 910D3 and the D2.  I hit the D3 10.5 *a week ago and was getting pretty decent numbers except for my launch angle and spin rate.  Launch angle was around 7-10 degrees and spin rate was mostly near 3300rpm.  I was using the stock diamana blue shaft in a stiff flex.  I then hit the D2 in a 9.5* and was getting much better numbers.  I was hitting the RIP 60 in stiff flex this time.  I was getting launch angle from 12-14 and spin around 2300-2600rpm.  I unfortunately did not hit the D3 with the RIP shaft to compare numbers.  I was wondering if I would get similar spin rate in the D3 with the RIP shaft?  Is the RIP shaft better for spin rate and launch angle then the Diamana?  I would really like to purchase the D3 but not if I can't get my launch angle higher with it.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Given your launch number the D2 with the RIP shaft is a good fit. Try the D3 with the RIP and see how it works out for you. I just switch to the the RIP from the Ahina in my D2 and just love it.

  3. I just went to a demo day and tried all the big name drivers. I narrowed the search to the D2 or D3 with the RIP shaft, 9.5. I was fitted by a titleist rep for swing speed, handicap, ball flight, etc. The shaft is as important as the head if not more. The main factor is your numbers, i hit both in a booth and loved each. The D2 was more forgiving on mishits. Both were set to A1, found my D2 very similar to your numbers with 101 swing speed and 147 ball speed avg. The D3 with RIP shaft came out lower 8-10 and 2800-3000 rpm. i trusted the numbers and love the D2 for better ball flight, carry distance, etc.

    Thanks for the replies,

Scott B. what kind of spin numbers were you getting when you tried the D3?

Scott B. I see you posted your spin numbers.  So the D2 was actually spinning less than the D3 for you?  Interesting.  Thank you again for posting your experiences.

I got back to the golf shop today and they were able to put together a D3 with the RIP 60.  I was getting very similar numbers to the D2.  So I ended up purchasing the D3 and can't wait for it to arrive from Titliest so I can take for a spin at the course.
