after a wait of over fifty years, i can finally claim membership in the hole in one club. it came at my home course, renaissance, during a team match versus ferncroft. on the fifteenth hole, a par three playing 207 yards, my opponent had hit a nice shot onto the green. i had taken notice of the nice tempo of his swing and had resolved that i would do the same. i was hitting a three hybrid, which i had a tendancy to hook. keeping tempo in mind, i hit a nice shot with a slight draw that was right at the pin. the ball landed, bounced and rolled towards the pin and went out of sight. my opponent said that it had gone in. knowing that there were some ridges in front of the green that could obscure the ball i was skeptical. as i walked towards the green i noticed that there was only one ball on the putting surface and i thought that maybe it did go in. the other players seemed to hang back to allow me to be the first one to look in the hole. there it was, my Titleist, in the cup!i was stunned to see it there. at the age of sixty, having golfed for over fifty years and having played at least ten thousand par threes, i finally had made a hole in one.
