Since I was 13, for every par 3 I faced I thought, "Ok, here's my 1st hole-in-0ne." Even declaring it out loud at times to my friends like Babe Ruth's famous called shot. Ahhhh, to no avail. At 60 I had given up the habit completely a few years back. On Aug. 25 of this year I was playing exceptionally well in a tournament and the only thing on my mind for the last 4 holes was ,"DON'T BLOW IT!" (A bad-luck mantra in itself as many of us know.) On hole 16, a par 4, a competitor in my foursome
holed one from 130 yards for an eagle. We all were so delighted at his fortune that as we approached #17, par 3, 175 yards the atmosphere was very loose. Then "BINGO"
my first ace. I went on to win the tournament and a 4 grand hole-in one prize pool as well. I was in "golf heaven".
