What grind do you use for your Vokey sand wedge.

    I am looking to replace my SM9 Vokey wedge. I presently use an SM9 54 12D as my bunker wedge. Thinking about changing to an SM10 54 14F for my bunker wedge. I struggle from time to time out of the bunker if the sand is really soft, I will dig a bit too much. Wondering what setup you use?

    SM10 58 degree K-Grind Low Bounce (6 degree). It's money in the bank.

    Hello Martin! I will tell you, I recently learned a whole bunch about grinds, bounce, and all of the options Titleist offers. It is mind blowing how much goes into it. I strongly encourage you to schedule time with a Titleist fitter. They are really good at what they do. We went through a lot of options to find what fit me the very best. Here is what I was fitted with - (pic attached)

    I just updated all my wedges this year to SM10. I went with 50.12F, 56.10S, and a WedgeWorks 60V. The 56 is great for longer bunker shots and the 60 has been amazing greenside when I need to stop the ball close. More bounce will help you in the sand but may hinder other aspects of your wedge game. I would suggest a wedge specific fitting and find the best fit for you. It really is a game changer. I learned a lot during mine.

    SM10 Jet Black 60-14K and 60-06K set to 58*. The standard K grind is the money club in the bunkers. Low K for wet sand and hard pan.

    The attached image is my bunker arsenal. 58-10S, 58-12D, 60-06K (58*) and a local brand Scripps Golf 58/12 (57*). Currently carrying the D grind and low-K but bringing the S grind online for a universal bunker club. My PM Grind 64/10 has been a go to for 7 years on deep greenside bunkers.

    The 58-10S was replaced by a 58-14K chrome.

    10 degree with s grind has done well with me for my type of turf. Just ordered a new set!

    I have been playing the D grind with 12 * of bounce but considering going to the S with 10*

    Grind fitting is an individual option. There is no general rule on what works best for your game. It depends on your game and the bunkers where you play the most. Try them all or get a fitting. I don't have a very solid consistent game, and I think I've tried just about every grind available, and settled on the 54 & 58 D grind. Works for me, but doesn't work for everybody.

    For me it is a science project. With SM4, 54-11M. 58-06L and 64-07T.

    It's been a toss up between 58-12D and 58-14K. My low bounce wedge is 60-06K (58*).

    I've used 54-12D and currently use 54-14F with both set to 52* as a gap wedge. For 3 years the combo was 54-10S (52*), 60-14K (58*).

    Now I play an SM9 58-12D as an all-purpose sand wedge. I carry 58-14K and 60-06K (58*) for places with fluffy sand or unknown conditions.

    54-14F set at 52 swings better than a 52-12F gap wedge.

    Use a 58* with an S grind, works well for me, sand where I mostly play is on the firm side

    I have worked at events where the local Titleist rep (who has been with Titleist 25+ years) has passed out Vokey wedges as SWAG at clubs for over nine years. He has always emphasized that the best sand wedge for the average golfer is the 56.10S, hands down. He states that it is the easiest club for amateurs to hit.

    That is what I have carried for many years based on experience and have recently added the 58.08M to my bag. The course where I play has been renovated and it is now a Seth Raynor style with extremely deep bunkers and can be at bit harder at times. The 58 allows me to hit down and thru better. Both have a purpose and will be in my bag when we go to Ireland. Those bunkers over there will be a challenge.

    M grind 8* of bounce all day long. So glad they brought it back.

    This is my carrying bag. My universal sand wedge is an SM9 58-12D. For places like Torrey Pines, carry a 58-14K and 60-06K (58*). That D grind is a somewhat "old favorite" that has been in and out of my bag since 2022 or so. A good combo had been an SM10 58-12D (57*) and a Wedgeworks 60-06K. For long bunker shots, and as a gap wedge, 54-14F set to 52*. I've been using a 48-10F set to 46* even through the upgrades. 46-52-58-64 is rock solid for wedge "gaping" (intentional misspell).
