I was curious about what some of your golf leagues that you all play in are like. I am in charge of putting together the tournament formats for my Sunday morning league in the Chicago area that brings in around 40 guys weekly. Throughout the year (beginning of May- end of September). We have the privilege of being able to play 18 holes since it is on the weekend and people (typically) do not have work on Sunday. The formats we play throughout the year are as follows:

    * 3 Hole Throw Out (take your worst 3 holes out of the final net score) * Quota (gross score point game starting with individuals handicap) * Stableford * Individual vs Par (net birdie or better is a +, net par 0, net bogey or worse is a -) * Nassau * 4-man Lone Star Blind Draw ABCD * 2- day 4-man Red, White, Blue Blind Draw ABCD (4-man scramble with 6 tees from blue tee, 6 white, * 6 red..can not reuse same tee box on Sunday that was used on Saturday) * 2-man 6-6-6 (6 holes true alternate shot, 6 holes scramble, 6 holes best ball) * 2-man 4 Format (9 hole modified alternate shot, 9 hole scramble, 9 hole best ball net, 9 hole add both scores together net) * Club Championship

Does any one have any other ideas out there that have been done?

I play weekly in a men's senior league (The Rascals) and we play a modified stapleford system. Our points are kept by a committee and adjusted accordingly. If you win money (they pay five places) you points do go up based on the number of points, and adjusted accordingly. If you do not if you do not win, your points are not adjusted. A lot of local rules.

Most seniors (most of our guys are in their 70s) like to keep it simple or at least the guys I play with do. One of the groups I play with within our weekly like to play the 6/6/6. It is really fun.

I also play on the courses Interclub Team which plays the first Monday of each month for ten months, against other courses on each teams home course. Same format. Each team has ten players. Only count the eight best scores. Plus seven is the best scores that can be counted per player for team scores, to prevent sandbagging. New rule.

Do not play on weekends. We live in a tourist town. Need I say more. I play at Charleston Municipal Course and it is rated by golf.com as the #19 rated muni in the U.S. and you pass it going to the Ocean Course at Kiawah. 75,000 rounds recorded last year. Easier to get a tee time at Kiawah than at the muni since the renovation. A Seth Raynor style redesign.

Sounds like you have it pretty well covered.
