Thought i'd upload a pic of the current bag, just need a gap wedge and possibly new stand bag. Both of which i've got queries on:

    1) Gap wedge unsure whether to go with a AP1 gap wedge or the Vokey SM6 48, what are peoples thoughts on this?

    2) I'm thinking of getting the tour stand bag with either 4 or 5 openings verses my current Titleist 14 way bag; will a few openings lessen club chatter, what is peoples experience on this?

About the gap wedge...I have played the set ap gap wedge and have a sm5 48....best answer I can give you is that I use the ap wedge beginning of the season when the ground is hard and my swing is rusty as it is a more forgiving club that can go further on mishits and/or bad habits...once my swing is good I break out the 48 degree. Great bite and predictability with flight and distance. My set came with the gap though otherwise I would have just bought the 48 and not the ap gap. Best of luck this year...good looking set, go Team Titleist!

Great looking bag. Similar to mine!

    Regarding your questions:
    1) I went with 48 - which is a 110 yard club for me.

Now I am thinking about a 54 instead of 52 & 56. I like another distance club and I use the 60 for 99% of sand shots. Since the 56 is my 100 & in club that has multiple trajectory options, I am thinking the 54 will go up to 108 and will still provide traj options down to 50. Not sure yet.

    2) I have the 14 way bag. I use it because I like order and think club chatter is reduced. My only complaint is that it is heavy and tends to get bulky on the cart - even though I try to keep the lower pockets realtively empty ... but it still gets wide at the bottom of the cart.

I am thinking the standing staff bag will be heavy and I'm leery of the club chatter.

Which way to go with the wedge is probably more a matter of feel and personal preference. Many tour pros substitute a vokey for even their Pitching wedge. The thought behind that is that they want the same groves throughout all of their wedges so they "play" the same way.

As a 13 GHIN I don't have the same feel or control over my balls spin as a tour pro, so stick with my 716MB P wedge.

From your pick I'd say you have your wedges gapped pretty well with 4* of separation in between them the P is typically 48* so save yourself some $ or replace the TM umbrella with a Titleist instead! :)

As for the bag, I have a 14 way stand cart bag and a 4 way carry bag. I feel that I get less chatter from the 14 way in the cart and less chatter with the 4 way when I carry, versus if I have it reversed. In other words I go to the course prepared to carry and my playing partners decide to ride and I put the carry bag in a cart, chatterville.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi
Nice set up. In terms of the wedges I recently got fitted for an SM6 gap wedge but went into the fitting convinced I would go for the AP1 as I wanted more forgiveness on the fuller shots I expected to hit.
The SM6 was a complete surprise in this regard and a much better fit for me. Definitely try them both.
  7. That's just downright beautiful.

Love the look of the bag!!

As for wedges, as others have said it's very personal. But I will say I have the SM6 in 50, 54 and 58 and am definitely considering going to the 46. . They are just so versatile and great performing clubs. I have AP1 5 through PW right now

I also have the 14 way cart bag and the Lite Stand bag that's a 3 way divider. Both have pros and cons. I have a hard time keeping things in order with the 3 way divider, but its a much easier bag to handle and move around.

Thanks again for the many responses, the AP1 PW is 43* so a 48* or GW(47*) will fill the gap to the 52* perfectly; i'm leaning towards the 48*....

With reference the bag, i carry so am tempted to switch to the 'Players 4 way', that way i could have it arrange like so:

    Top - Woods and putter
    Left middle - 5i, 6i, 7i
    Right middle - 8i, 9i, PW
    bottom - 48*, 52*, 56* , 60*

Am i over thinking this, and yes i know the brolly has to be switched out.

I would go with the SM6 48* and get it 1 degree strong (47*). The Vokeys are built for more accuracy, feel and control. What you need to score, closer to the hole. It's a way more versatile club! I also like to keep all my gaps between clubs at 4*.

Nice looking set of clubs. I am going to purchase a couple of new Sm6 Vokey wedges. I am on the fence regarding finish. I notice you have the black finish. They look great any second thoughts reagarding your choice over chrome?

Nope, no second thoughts regarding the colour of the wedges. The was in two minds prior to ordering but I already black wedges and I like the colour contrast.

  16. Nice bag! I really like the W wedge that comes with the AP2 set, I think it's 50 degrees...just feels more solid to me for full swing shots than a Vokey.

I'd recommend the Staff Stand Bag, got one and love it. Have had it for a few years now it it's held up great. I think I get less club chatter without the 14 way dividers. I found the clubs lying against each other don't bang into each other as much resting against each other as they do flopping around in the individual spaces. Just my experience and opinion. If you walk a real lot and think the Staff Stand Bag is a little heavy, try looking at the 4up. Much lighter, a little less storage, but a great bag. Got that one too and it's been great

The bag with 14 dividers has helped to keep the noise down, with my clubs, it may do the trick for you too
