After a particularly abysmal back 9 on the big course on beautiful a Sunday morning, I met up with my friend Chuck for our weekly 9 holes on the short course. I normally tee off first as Chuck is a true believer in chivalry, but this particular morning I was still internally ( and maybe a little externally) grumbling over the 9 I had just played. I told Chuck to go ahead and hit first and he suggested a little motivator of $1 for the Closest to the Pin. Chuck hit a good shot that went slightly long, so I decided to try my 54 degree wedge instead of my usual Gap wedge punch shot, and...... hit it perfectly, winning a dollar from Chuck, which was almost as sweet as my first hole in 1! It was the same ball that I had used on my round earlier in the morining. The ball has been retired to my desk so I can look at it every day!
