Walking to the 16th tee box, I told my playing partner that with the pin moved from the back of the green to the middle, I’d be using a 7-iron. Standing over the ball, I said to him, “This one’s going in.”

I struck it perfectly — the ball flew straight at the pin, took one bounce, and rolled right into the hole. I turned to my partner, who was already celebrating, high-fived him, and reminded him with a grin, “I told you it was going in!”

This hole in one occurred in January and due to the course layout changing, the club would not put my name on the hole in one board at the tee box. The board remains on the course so I may have to head out with a white permanent marker to make my own entry!
