Richmond Country Club.. Hole #2.. 190 yard par 3 with green side bunkers in the front. Missing short was not an option, and so I went with a 5 iron to ensure I had the distance.
I approached the tee box with conviction and focus to make up for a triple bogey on the previous hole. The pin was positioned in the middle of the green, which sloped upwards and provided some insurance for the long play. Without a practice swing, I set up over the ball aiming directly at the flag.
WHACK! I striped the ball purely with a slight baby fade tailing towards the pin. The ball landed 3” from the hole, bounced straight up, and landed in the cup.
In shock, I began sprinting towards the green to eliminate all doubt of this actually happening. Once there, I saw the most beautiful sight I have ever seen (outside of my wife, of course). The Titleist 4 logo confirming a miracle has happened.
Cheers
