  1. I began playing golf as a young Air Force NCO at Carswell Air Force Base, Fort Worth, Texas at the age or 37. Two young Lieutenants that I worked with took me out one weekend and I was hooked. I bought a used set of clubs and some "experienced golf balls" because a young NCO with a family had to be frugal.

Fast forward 33 years and two retirements later and I now live on a nice golf course, Windance Country Club, Gulfport MS, which is owned by the local Island View Casino. I have lived here for 15 years and FINALLY made my first hole-in-one on June 20, 2025. I was on Hole #8, a par 3, playing 143 yards on that day. Not having such a great day, as usual, until I mis-hit my shot on #8. The ball hit in front of the green and rolled up right into the hole! I wasn't even looking; but, my A-Player (5 man team that day with A,B,C,D, and me (E) shockingly said, "It went in the hole!" I didn't believe him until I went up and looked in the hole.

I was playing an "almost" new Yellow AVX. Almost new because I had put a ball in the lake on #7, so I had to pull out another AVX. Playing good balls can get expensive if you like the best; but, it's worth the expense. AVX gives me the best chance of getting a good shot.
