During a recent scramble tournament at Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut, MA, I decided to switch things up. I usually play Pro V1s, but I grabbed a Titleist TruFeel for the round—Four Oaks is a tight course, and I figured a softer, more controllable ball might help me out.

Well… it helped a lot more than I expected.

On the final hole of the day (Hole 9, a 160-yard par 3 playing closer to 175 uphill), I pulled out my new 8-iron from my Takomo set and hit what turned out to be the purest shot of my life. My group watched it bounce twice… then vanish. One of the guys thought he heard it hit the cup. When we got to the green, there it was—my first-ever hole-in-one.

First round with the irons. First round with the TruFeel. First ace.

After a moment like that, I may have just found a permanent spot in the bag for the Titleist TruFeel.
