A group of 16 guys landed in Howard, Ohio, for the weekend. We were set up to play a Ryder Cup-style event between two eight-man teams. Match play on Friday afternoon, alt shot in the morning on Saturday with a two-man scramble in the afternoon. We finished with singles on Sunday morning. It was awesome!
My hole-in-one game during the alt shot portion of the weekend. We parked on #5 at Apple Valley. It is a short part 3 over water with a pretty severe green that slopes back to front. Hitting it closes isn't easy with most wedges spinning down to the front of the green.
I selected my Vokey 52-degree wedge, tee'd it up, and went through my normal pre-shot routine. I took my normal swing, made good contact, and watched the ball flying just left of the week. I said, "Be right, baby." The ball hit on the green, spun a little right, and disappeared.
Needless to say, my playing partners and I let out shots that were heard all over the golf course! And, it sent a buzz through our three other playing groups.
It was my second hole-in-one in six months. Unreal, simply unreal.
