I have the Titleist 910D3 driver in a 9.5 loft with a Diamana 'ilima 61 R-flex graphite shaft. I recently had the shaft cut down from 45" to 44 1/2". The sole weight is still the 7 gram weight that came with the club. Should the weight be changed higher or lower in order to gain more speed at contact with the ball. Thanks for your response. T J

If you had a standard grip on your 910 driver, the swingweight would have been D3.  By cutting it down 1/2", you would bring that swingweight down to approx D0-D1..  You can add swingweight back to the club by changing the weight to a 9 gr (add one swingweight) or a 12 gram weight which will add an additional 1.5 swingweight (so bringing it back to approx D3)..   It depends on why you cut the shaft and if you have a smooth tempo or quick transition.   In general, you might gain speed if your swing tempo is smooth and moderate by keeping the swingweight as is.  If your tempo is quick and you have a higher swingspeed, you may gain control by adding weight back into the head.

Thanks Cathi for your reply. Cutting the shaft allowed me to bring the flight of the ball back to center of the fairway. The 45" was causing me to hit more fade than I needed, even with the SureFit set to most draw. Now I just need a little more distance and thought that an extra gram would help. You are correct with my tempo. It is a quick transition. I will order the weight kit and try both the 9 and then the 12 gr weights and let you know. Once again, thanks for your input. T J.
