I am looking at getting my Titleist irons re-shafted in the near future and was wondering what I should go with. I hit my irons long, but incredibly high. It's not an issue for me really except when the wind picks up. I can carry my 7-iron roughly 175 yards, but it goes the height of a 9-iron or wedge. I currently have True Temper S-300 shafts and was curious which option would best suit me sincer there is no Titleist fitter within 150 miles here.

  2. Hi Trey -

Its is very tough to say what shaft will work best for you without going through a proper fitting.  Typically, a heavier firmer shaft will help bring the ball flight down, like a Dynamic Gold S400 or X100.  But you may also consider the Project X Flighted shafts.

It would be beneficial if before you make a shaft choice you determine if you carry too much spin or if your trajectory is just too high. The right shaft for you might vary depending on this information. You might also consider bending your irons 1 degree or 2 stronger depending on this information (the Dynamic Gold S300 may be the right shaft but you carry a bit too much spin so you might consider making the lofts stronger to help reduce your spin which may give you a flatter ball flight).

The Flighted Project X may give you a higher initial launch but might provide an overall flatter trajectory.

If you provide me your location and zip code I will see if we have anyone near you that can assist.

    Nick--

I appreciate the help. The city I live in has three zips, but the one where I am located is 86404. I love that there are so many people here that will help. Team Titleist is great!!!

Trey, Nick is the man so hopefully we can find a pro near you.

Before you change shafts, I would highly recommend loft changes with the aid of a launch monitor.  You could be a high launch guy, or a high spin guy.  We never know until we have the data.
