I was fitted the other day for a 910 with the setup of A-1, 8.5 degree, D3, stiff Diamana white. My numbers were 96 to 103 MPH 140 to 150 ball speed with launch of 15 to 16 degree but backspin of 3500 to 4500. Had some draw spin which was great but to me the backspin is still way to high.  The problem is I think I could have better carry (260 yrds) if I could try some differant shafts.  The best I could find would be the RIP 80 with high kick and then maybe go to a 9.5 degree D3 head.  There is just no way for me to try more exotic shafts and I dont wanna fork out extra cash for a shaft i cant try.  So with no option there for me to get my spin down I need help picking one for my numbers.  I know its best to do it there but I really dont see another choice since the stardard shaft is not for me. Please help!

Bryan - I just got fitted with the 910 D3 Stiff Project X 6.0 7C3 Stock Shaft - I have the same Clubhead speed as you I paly to a 3.  I tried both the Project X and the RIP Shafts both are stock offerings with no upcharge Project X should bring down your spin rate - and by the way the Project X Shaft is the REAL DEAL that Titleist is offering which is a mazing considering if you were too buy it - cost is $275!!  MOST SOLID SHAFT I HAVE EVER HIT!!!

Hope this helps - good luck

I just received my D3 with a Diamana Whiteboard X Flex.  My swing speed is 112-117.  I was testing the stiff and it was a little to whippy.  My fitter happen to have the X and I was sold.  I did hit the RIP and Proj X.  I really liked the RIP but thought the 60gm was really light.  My fitter didn't have the 70gram version but there is one.  Heavier shouldn't add distance, just stability.  Your ball speed + launch angle should give you a pretty good read on your carry.  If you can find a fitter with a full cart they should have ton of options for you.  good luck

The Oban Devotion 6 or 7 might be a good try.

Your best option would be to contact a local PGA professional to take a look at your technique.  The problems you are getting with the driver are not a result of the shaft or club head.  Just my thoughts.

    Hi

    • If you wan2 lower the spin rate, you just gotta try the Oban Kiyoshi, only problem is that not many Titleist fitters have them on their carts, but its worth asking if they can get hold of one for you to try, it really killed my spin, but hit pretty high, which i notice from your thread is not the problem for you, so bit of a gamble, but still worth a try my friend, its a cool shaft that does what it says on the tin!!

    Good luck

  6. Hey Jason,

I have the same set up as you too with the same kind of swing speed

Just bought the Kiyoshi 65g stiff, very smooth, a bit stiffer but I reckon it does spin lower

Been driving about 250 metres with great ball flight (slight draw), I still set it at 7.75 degrees standard (i.e. no draw or fade)

Ill keep you posted on how I go with it, only had a round with it, the height is nice (not balloon), a bit lower than Ahina

It feels different to swing, not as heavy as the Ahina, more like a samurai knife that cuts through the air, very stable through transition

    Have fun!!!!

  7. I was fitted at a local fitter today and had the same problem.  I hit the Diamana Ahina X with a 9.5 and launch etc were very good but spin was crazy at 3,800 to 4,400.  SS was between 96-98 so recommended PX 7C3 and kept same launch but spin was between 1800-2500 but picked up 20 yds in carry.  Give it a shot!
