My current set of clubs has a PW with 46 degrees of loft and a SW with 55 degrees of loft.  I don't have a GW or a LW in my current set.  I hit my PW about 140 yds and my SW about 110 yds.  I am planning on getting a new set of AP1s and some Vokey wedges by the end of the year.  If the AP1 PW has 45 degrees, which loft of Vokey wedges do you recommend I purchase assuming I want a GW, a SW, and a LW.

This is just a question about the loft.  I realize I need to be fitted to select the proper bounce on the wedges.

a lot of people do different things. I prefer only 3 wedges, and my wedges are 46, 52, 58. It makes things a lot easier IMO. as far as the AP1 set, you could go PW - 45, GW - 50, SW - 55, LW - 60. You can get a 56 bent 1 degree strong to accomplish this. Hope that helps!

We do have a AP1 gap wedge that goes with the set at 50°.  Bob V. would recommend 4° to 6° between wedges.  4° to keep better yardage gaps and if you are a more mechanical wedge player, but you could have up to 6° between wedges if you are a very good 'touchy, feely' kind of wedge player.

I was thinking of getting the AP1s in 3-PW and then getting the Vokey 50, 54, and either 58 or 60 degree.  I am kind of a "touchy, feely" wedge player, just very inconsistent.  I think the only reason I am an 18 handicap is because of inconsistent play from 140 yards in.

I currently play with just a driver and 3-wood and 3-PW and a SW.  I think if I add a gap wedge and a lob wedge I will hit better shot because I will have more full shots and have more clubs with which to be creative.

So if I want to go with the AP1s in 3-PW and then 3 Vokey wedges, which loft of wedges would you guys recommend?

Christopher L, I too have the AP1 Irons.  I purchased 4-pw and also the gap wedge.  I purchased the 54, and the 58 Vokey wedges because they seemed to feel like the most natural progression.  45, 50, 54, 58.  In addition, I've noticed the 58 is a bit easier to hit than my old 60 degree (less chunks and blades).  The 54.11 and the 58.08 worked really well for me since I play on a variety of course conditions and my swing is not overly steep (a bit though).  I hope this helps.

Also, if you get fitted for the proper shaft in your irons; I would use the same shaft in your wedges if they are HEAVIER, but if they are lighter I would use the stock True Temper Dynamic Gold Wedge shaft.  Just a personal thought and not an "expert" opinion.

Oh, and be sure to get those wedges soon so you can take advantage of the "2024 Grooves"!

    Enjoy the new sticks!
