I took my recently purchased AP2's to Golfsmith to get them 1 degree flat.  After getting them home, I noticed that the 9-4 had grooves(nasty indentions) on each hosel.  I talked to a buddy of mine who was in the golf business and he told me that the technician probably did not have the hosel tool seated correctly.  I called Golfsmith and the manager told me that was normal for the AP2's due to their soft steel on forged clubheads.  I explained to him that the pw did not have any marks on it and he told me that they would replace the heads.  I'm not sure if I want them to replace the heads if they can't even change the lie angle without marking up the hosel.  Any thoughts on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Hi -

Its unfortunate to hear that your AP2 heads have stress cracks in them.  This is not normal and if done properly will not happen to the AP2 (as long as the bending is done within its +/- degree tolerance).  You will need to work with Golfsmith to have the heads replaced.  You may ask that Golfsmith send your clubs to our Warranty and Repair Department to have this work completed.  These clubs will not be covered under warranty since the bending was done outside of the Titleist facility but you may request that Titleist do the re-head work if Golfsmith has offered to replace the damaged clubheads.
