Mixed Iron sets

  1. Hi there

I was wondering whether a Titleist custom fitting would be able to put together a mixed iron set - for example I would be interested to know whether it is possible to make up a set of 4,5i in AP2s, 6,7i in CBs and 8, 9 & P in MBs (to take into account the workability & playability of blades in the shorter irons and more foregiving clubs in the longer irons) - i.e. similar to the previous ZB set?

Would you see any benefit in doing this or would an ordinary set of a particular model be better if properly fitted?

Also, does Tietleist have any plans to introduce a blended set (ZBs) we don't know about yet? Just asking...:)

I will interject a bit...  I know Titleist is allowing orders of mix bags of CB and MBs, and you order by the iron, thus I would see absolutely no issue with Titleist allowing this kind of mixed bag.  I have, actually, been considering a very similar configuration myself... whenever reality allows me to go get fit :)

I don't think Titleist has any plans of offering a mixed set again.  I think that with them now allowing you to order by the iron they are essentially doing that.  I have mixed set of CB's and MB's.  My instructor has a 3 iron AP2, 4-7 iron CB's and 8-PW MB.  I complement Titleist for letting us order mixed sets.  I've also seen a lot more of the Vokey 48 deg wedges in play rather than the stock PW.

    Good luck with your fit.
