Hi Gerald - 

If you butt cut your Diamana 65 S from 45" to 44.5" your swing-weight should be in the range of D1.  If you take it to 44" your swing-weight will be close to C8.  

There is no way to determine what effect this will have on your carry distance.  If 45" is too long and a 44" length allows you to find the center of the club face more often, you will probably see more carry with the shorter club.  Everything being equal, a longer shaft will generate slightly higher swing speed and ball speed numbers and will normally produce more distance.

 

 

Nick, I am looking at doing something similar, I have a 910 d3 at 45" and I would like to shorten it 1" to 44". What weight can I install to have a D2 swing weight. Oh, it's a diamana shaft, stiff. I'm not sure that info matters, but there it is. Thanks in advance ~ Kurtis
