  1. AP@ Shafts--I play the AP1 now with the Adilla Prototype 75-R shaft. 8 handicap.

I want to buy the AP2 with a rifle shaft but not sure which flex is closest to the shaft I have now

I am thinking probably the 5.0 flex is what I need?

And, will I be giving up distance with the steel shaft?  Thanks---Gib

  2. Hi Gib,

Were you fit into your current AP1 set?  Have you had the chance to visit a Titleist trade partner outfitted with our SureFit system?  Visiting one of our partners with the SureFit system should be very beneficial to someone like yourself.  Moving from a graphite shaft to steel can be a big step and you may notice some significant differences.  It might not be as simple as what flex in a Rifle is closest to the Aldila T75 Reg.

The Titleist VS Proto-T 75 is a light-weight (73g in reg.) shaft with a low/mid flex point and medium torque (3.5 deg). This shaft works well for players with average swing speeds and smooth tempos seeking a medium-high trajectory.

There are some other lightweight steel shafts that are a bit closer in weight and torque to the Aldila T75 other than the Rifle 5.0.  These other shafts should be available in the SureFit cart for a side-by-side comparison.

If your swing speed and ball speed is on the lower end of the spectrum you may see a loss in distance by moving to steel, but you may also see a tighter shot dispersion as a result.

If you have further questions or would like some assistance in finding a fitter near you, please call Team Titleist directly.
