If I tip my shaft .5" and leave it at 44.5, what weight should I use?

I have a 910D2 10.5 ilima R and I continue to have a high trajectory. I have tried everything with my swing including lessons and ball changes V1x to Tour and still high. Most of my ball marks are closer to the heel as well. It was recommended that I tip my shaft .5" and not extend butt end.

What weight should I use to make the feel of the club similar? I have the standard 7g weight. Thanks!

If you tip your shaft 1/2" and have a standard grip, a 9 gram will bring it to a D1 and a 12 gram will bring the swingweight to a D3. Depending on how high your trajectory is, that may not be enough to lower it. One of the biggest contributors to trajectory is loft. You may want to look at not only a lower loft, but a D3 head.

    Hey Cathi,

What is the swingweight with the ilima? D1 or D3.

Ooh a D3 head? I have tried it with the monitors and they didn't see less spin and trajectory but when the put when they put the Kaili shaft, it went down a bit.

I would rather not spend another $400 for a head. Want to save up for the new Scotty release next Spring. ;)

BTW thanks for the small token! ;)

The standard swingweight would be D3. You may be able to bring it down a little with a change in shaft and putting it in one of the bottom row settings. D2, C2, D1 or C1

Agree with Cathi, I had the same problem with the D2 head, the shop swoped my D2 for a D3 demo head. I also tried different shaft and the Ahina shaft and PX 6.0 gave me the best results, the other two Diamana shafts spin a lot. the Ilima R is very soft and even in S flex it is soft and light.

If I'm fortunate enough to swap out my head to a lower lofted or a D3 head, I will go for it.

However, I brought my shaft to the club fitter from my golf shop and he researched Titleist about tipping. He tipped the shaft 1" and added a 1" butt extension. Apparently he told me it brings the flight down from mid-high to mid per Titleist.

BTW he plays a 910D2 as well.

I got about 15-20 yds more per drive when I played it a few days ago at the A1 setting and I have been playing at the D1 prior to the shaft change.

I'm very happy with the results.
