Currently playing the KBS Tour 90 (R) in another club and I am switching to the AP1 712 - decision is which shaft is best. I want to keep shaft weight very similar to my current shaft (~95 grams) - given that shaft's characterisitics, it seems the Nippon NS Pro 950 is the closest shaft being offered by Titleist. Planning to hit the Nippon in the next couple of weeks with the new AP1 to verify, but are there any other shafts I should be considering and based on paper, is the Nippon NS Pro 950 the most comparable option? I like the curent ball flight of the KBS Tour 90 (R) and wouldn't be upset if ball flight was a little higher. Thanks in advance for your help.

As far as ball flight and weight - the NS pro 970 and the Dynalite SL shaft would be the closest.

Those are both heavier shafts. Wouldn't Nippon NS Pro 950 be most comparable in terms of weight, but would launch higher?

In the Reg flex, the 90's weigh 95 grams and the 970's weigh 99 and the SL weighs 102. They perform very similarly to the KBS 90's in terms of spin and launch. If you are strictly looking at weight, the NSPro 950's weigh 95 grams but will launch and spin higher than any of those shafts. It will launch similarly to our graphite Tour AD 65i.

Cathi, how does the new AP1 stock graphile shaft compare to the stock aldila shaft in my 2008 AP1's?  Are characteristics similar?

    Thanks!

The new GDI 65i will go slightly higher than the VS Proto T75 shafts.
