WHO ELS?! ERNIE AND TITLEIST REACH 100 UNDER DOWN UNDER!

One would be good, two impressive, three remarkable but four wins from five for Ernie Els as a full line Titleist ambassador is simply out of this world. With two victories on both the US Tour and European Tour this year, Ernie tops the Order of Merit on both sides of the Atlantic and the irresistible combination of Els and his new Titleist clubs is now an incredible 100 under par from just 5 events!

Ernie led from start to finish and blew the field away to win by 10 shots at the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth representing the biggest winning margin in the tournament’s history. And the records don’t end there, as his four round 29 under par total of 259 was the lowest winning score to par ever recorded on the European Tour as Els continues the richest vein of form in his illustrious career. Els now relies upon Titleist from tee-to-green and his bag includes 11 Titleist clubs including a prototype Titleist Titanium 983 driver, Titleist fairway metal, Titleist Forged 690MB irons and a Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter. Fellow Titleist player Stephen Leaney was tied in second place on 19 under par.

Ernie once again teed up with the all-conquering Pro V1 this week. Els has relied upon Titleist ball technology throughout his career and is currently using the new Pro V1x ball due to be launched in March as a companion to the legendary Pro V1 which is also improved for 2003. Els recently described the higher speed, lower spin performance of the new Pro V1x combined with his new Titleist driver as a ‘match made in heaven’. Since the switch Els tour stats show that his increased distance has not been to the detriment of accuracy and he is hitting more fairways this season too.

Els’ victory with the Pro V1x means that both Pro V1 balls have now amassed 18 wins worldwide this season, which is more than all other brands combined. Other notable Pro V1 wins include Paul Casey, Davis Love III and Vijay Singh.

Ernie Els’ switch to become a full line Titleist player has seen his game reach a whole new level and is further proof that the game’s elite choose Titleist above all others to play at the highest level.
