Playing white/blue combo with my dad on masters Sunday, and we were running a bit behind. So, no range and with no practice at all, we step up to the first tee. Hole 1 is a little bit of downhill shot, so the fairway helps you with some runout, but there a little hill right in front of the green that was blocking our visibility of this particular hole location. I straight up rocket one down the middle, see it bounce up the hill and roll over, and im certain that I’m either on the green or just short. We looked for my ball for about 5 minutes before I decided to drop and chip up. My dad’s still giving me grief about losing the shot, and low behold, he pulls the flag and there’s my Titleist Velocity 1 sitting at the bottom of the cup. Little did I realize getting an ace on hole 1 makes the rest of the day a lot tougher once the cart girl hears about it and starts feeding you shots. Plus experience For 3 years straight (2021-2024) my wedge lofts were 46-52-58-64. I'd been playing 39* as an 8 iron loft. 48-10F set 46 had been my 9/PW since 2020. Played K grind 2* strong since 2018. I used 54-10S 2* strong as a gap wedge 2019-2022. 54-10F 2* strong 2022 -2024 because it worked better in soft bunkers. Been using 52-12F 2*'strong since 2024 since I figured out why the "bonafide" gap wedges didn't work: lie angle was flattened 1/2* to match the 48-10F. 50* loft carries obstacles better than 52 plus I now have 85-90 yard full swing. The 44F was a game changer at 42*. I get a lot of use out of it. 46* loft is "baggage" now UNLESS I go back to 34H and 620CB 8 iron and pull the 44F. I was playing ok for winter golf, but the last few holes my swing started to come together. I was on hole 16, had 117 yards over the water and straight into the wind. I flushed my t300 pitching wedge, ball landed 10 ft. past the pin and spun back towards the hole and finally when it seemed it was going to stop, the prov1 dropped! Another player in my group hit his shot before me, and his ball missed the hole by a whisker, and I exclaimed, saying....ah, missed the party, and then my ball goes it...imagine! The 15th hole at the Karnataka Golf Association in Bangalore plays between 145 and 170 yards, depending on the pin location. Today, the pin was front center, and my Garmin watch gave me a front green edge cover distance of 145 with the pin 10 paces from the front edge. The wind can be swirly at this time of the year, and at the time of my shot, it was a bit behind me, so I chose to hit an easy 8 iron, and I flushed it! The ball launched perfectly, landed about 7 feet from the pin...spun, rolled towards the hole, and stopped at the front edge...and seemed like an eternity. The ball dropped in the hole and jubilation on the tee box......I can now rest in peace knowing that the Hole in One achievement is behind me for good for this life. Now for the damages.....on the house drinks for my buddies...all 26 of them this coming Sunday. On-the-house lunch for a close group of caddies and lots of envious eyes for some time. I will take this any time. I was stood on the tee with PW in hand, but last minute changed my mind and decided to hit a more controlled 3/4 9 iron. Hole 18. Took my pitching wedge and swung the most pure shot of my life. My friend Patrick who can be seen in the video stepped up next to me into the box as we both watched it hang in the air for what felt like forever. He immediately send wow that was easily the shot of the day… his eye sight is a little better than mine so as we are watching the ball land and roll toward the pin I thought maybe it rolled off the back of the green… he goes “no I think that just went in the cup”. I humbly deny it because I genuinely was not sure at that moment. Anyway, enjoy the video of our walk up and all the excitement in the world in both of our voices as we realize I just hit my first Ace! Thank you Titleist, so glad I play your ball and not Noodles because I can’t think of anything worse than hitting that beautiful Ace and pulling a Noodle or Nitro ball out of cup haha!! I scored a hole in one on a par 3 hole. The hole was 190 yards. It was actually playing 200+ yards due to an elevated green and a 10-12 mile per hour wind. The prize for scoring a hole in one on this hole was a 2025 Cadillac Escalade Luxury 1 all electric SUV. I was awarded this vehicle on May 20, 2026 at Stan McNabb of Columbia Tennessee by American Hole’n One. I have been playing golf since I was 18 years old. I am now 57 years old.
