Originally introduced in the mid-1940s by John Reuter Jr., Inc., the Bulls Eye putter became wildly popular among recreational and tournament players alike. The original club was a simple design with a brass head that could putt the ball left or right-handed. Later designs added a flange along the back for stability.
The Reuter company was purchased by the Acushnet corporation, maker of Titleist golf balls, in 1962.

Refined by Scotty Cameron, the 2001 Bulls Eye Series is a testament to great club design. Scotty mills the Bulls Eye out of soft carbon steel and finishes it with his Pro Platinum finish. The standard Bulls Eye has a high toe and soft, rounded topline, with a sightdot for an unobstructed view of the ball. Scotty’s Studio features a section dedicated to John Rueter in appreciation of his incomparable design, creativity and commitment to excellence. The 2001 Cameron Bulls Eye with Flange is milled from 1018 carbon steel, finished in Pro Platinum, and features a sweeping back flange that gives it a different look and weight distribution.
