Yep, here they come. TTI Streamsong we got our first chance to give them a try. Probably will be a few sleeves mailed out soon. Just keep an eye out and hope your mailman does not play golf.

That is what I get for leaving early on Tuesday. No 388 Protos. Will wait on my sleeve, I guess. Hakuna matata.

Thoughts? What would you compare these to from the current range?

Hopefully I get lucky to try some myself!

The ones in the box (388) are equivalent to the ProV1 and the one on the tee (348) is equivalent to the ProV1x. The 388 and 348 numbers are associated with the number of dimples on the ball. I played one round using each ball for 9 holes. Seemed to me that they played very similar to the current models in feel and trajectory but I did not have the opportunity to hit the old and new side-by-side to get a more exact assessment of the differences. I will trust that the ball manufacturing experts have done what they need to do and so I will just happily transition into the new ProV1x as my old supply runs out.

I attended the TTI at Streamsong as well. I play the ProV1x and so played the Black Course with the new 348 Proto. It took me about 14 holes to get used to the new ball. My thoughts on the ball overall are great. It's a better ball than the 2021 version.

The 348 Proto launched for me a fraction lower but still had that high launch. It held its line a little better and did not spin off too much for me. Iron wise felt a fraction softer but loved the high launch. Stopped quicker going into greens, and when chipping/pitching around the green, I felt it had a touch more bite or grab than the previous model. Putting was the same.

I picked up a few extra yards with the ball overall.

I am eager to try the 388 Proto. No need to do a side by side as I know the new 348 Proto is better.

Like Dale will transition to the new ball once my old supply runs out. Thankfully I have a teenage son that will take some of my supply.

As with Tyler S. above, I got the new 348 Proto balls at TTI Streaming. I used one of the new ones for my round on the Black course, as well. For me, the ball was consistent, perhaps a bit lower flight than the 2021 version. Putts ran true and I got up and down frequently during the round. I have never spun the ball a lot, but the 2023 clearly provided me with more stopping power than the 2021. Since departing Streamsong, I've played a few more rounds with the new ball. The first one I played lasted three full rounds plus 12 holes. To me it seemed to be more durable than the 2021. It was perfectly good until I cut it out of a green side bunker and had to take it out of play. One of the rounds, I alternated the Proto with the 2021, playing one on the even numbered holes and the other on the odd numbered ones. Not a great difference, but clearly some improvements in the 2023 ball. I will keep the 7 sleeves I've got in play as long as possible. Will probably alternate the 348 and the sleeve of 388 Protos that I kept during a round early next week to compare those two balls.

I also received the balls to test and I find it will be interesting in my case as I’m an older golfer with of course a slower swing. It will really fun to see how feel and control work for a slower approach to the game.I’m a titleist person from head to toe. Thanks for thinking of me. Let you know in a couple weeks how the do.

Haven't heard much about the 388's yet.
Most reports have been about the 348's.
I am in between balls right now.

Always played the V1 since 2011, but this year started using the X some & do like some of the properties of that ball. But I haven't sold myself on getting all X models for 2023.

So the balls being tested right now, the information coming from others is important to me & my decision for what to purchase next year. I like the carry of the X, but like the flight of the V in the 2021 balls.

if the X gets a lower flight & less spin off the long irons I could easily move to it in 2023, but don't have any to test.

Giving the 348's and the 388's a run for their money today!
Courses are soft and wet this morning in SoCal.
We shall see how they preform!

  21. I got mine in the mail last week, and I have tried the proto 388 verses my usual prov1x. I liked the feel of the 388 vs the prov1x. The cover feels softer, and I liked the ball flight. I will try the 348 tomorrow, as I now know that the 348 is more to the prov1x. I definitely think the covers are softer on these new balls, and the play around the greens was comparable to the prov1 and the prov1x.

Have tested both balls. Will be ordering the new Prov1s when then come out in January, no take that back, will wait a few months and get them under the Loyalty program. You know, buy three and four dozen. Both ball perform well, find that the 348 scuff a little more and the distance is less than the 388. Have been using the -Prov1x and find the 388 to be longer.

With friends like you, who needs enemies? May of 2024. I really needed a good laugh today, Dale. Thanks. Hakuna matata. Teed off this am, 40* with 15 MPH winds out of the north. Tough day. Only lost one ball. Hope all is well. Shared some of those Protos with friends and they love the Prov1s.
