Golf in Nelson NZ

If anyone is travelling through Nelson NZ I suggest you stop and play the Nelson Golf Club. Very reasonable rates. You definitely have to golf your ball as it’s a very links course up against the Tasman Sea. The greens are excellent pay attention to the pin placements as they can be tricky but the ball rolls beautifully if you miss your put don’t blame the greens. See Sean and Blair and they will look after you. The members are very welcoming as well.

SM11 Fitting today!

I had my SM11 wedge fitting today, thanks to Pacific Dunes Golf Club and Jason Butt from Titleist. My SM9 wedges were worn out! I went with the same lofts as my previous wedge set, but went with 48-10F, 54-10S & new 58-12K. The demo clubs felt great, and it was nice to be able to try some new shafts. Can't wait to they arrive later this month!!

Travel to Nelson

Trying something different this year. We are putting down some roots for a month in Nelson NZ and looking forward to playing the Nelson Golf Course. We have travelled quite a bit in NZ playing on both the North and South Islands. Pictures of the Nelson area and golf course look amazing. Can’t wait to leave winter for green grass of the golf course.

I purchased my first Scotty back in 2024 based on feel and trying the models that were available for LH.

Now a year and half on, I ran in to an old pro who instantly made some remarks about the putter not being the right size and possible toe flow.

Are there any places either in Qld or Vic that I can go to get properly fitted?

Looking after your clubs

I’ve recently purchased a new set of T250 irons. Being an expensive purchase, I want to look after the condition as much as possible. I’m wondering, do people believe in iron covers? I’ve heard that they prevent the clubs knocking together and taking chips out of the clubs, is this true, should I have covers on my irons?

SM10 vs 200 series vokey wedges

I've just replaced an SM6 52.12 and older 56.10 with an SM10 54.10 S grind (pictured). Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. My 60 degree however is the old (2011) 200 series version, 260.04 I absolutely love this wedge, it's perfect in every way I can imagine and other than the age, can't fault it. Anyone here have experience with the 200 series wedges and have an idea of what is a similar grind and feel in the current line up? I know, I should get fitted, but way down in Otago, NZ, there aren't many, if any, opportunities.

In some American forums the verdict was that you can't top the 200 series wedges and to hang onto it as long as possible. Im interested in local opinions if you can please share!

Hi TT ANZ,

Whilst I have done numerous ball fittings, I have always gravitated to the AVX primarily because I was so comfortable with the feel of the ball and the performance seemed suitable for my needs.

In saying that I recently made a huge leap by putting the Pro V1x in the bag and I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. Quite a big change as I was an AVX user since the ball was first released in 2018.

What I found with the Prov 1x was the added spin most certain helped my short game especially from 50 meters in, and with the Pro V1x I did not sacrifice any distance with my longer clubs!

What ball do you have in the bag????

2025 Team Titleist ANZ Events

After seeing the post recently about the New Zealand TT Event, it most certainly got myself buzzing with anticipation in what lies ahead for TT ANZ in 2025.

Whilst I personally hope I am able to attend a few more events in the future, once you have been to your first event you will certainly want more right!

Shaft vs club fitting

Hi team, I'm based in NZ down on Lake Whakatipu. The local golf centre in Queenstown had a fitting day recently and I was fortunate enough to book a slot with a Titleist rep who fitted me for a driver (that's all we had time for). The key takeaway I had was that the shaft on my current clubs was incorrect, and this was responsible for the large majority of my miss hits. Once we figured out the right shaft and played with a few heads, my shots were incredibly consistent, I was blown away. Consistent strike pattern, head speed, ball speed, ball flight etc. I bought the new driver (GT3 10°, on a Tensei 1k blue shaft), but while I wait for it to be made have been experimenting with my current driver (910D2 9.5°) to try for more consistency. Slower down-stroke etc I'm thinking about switching the shaft on my fairway wood (910F 15°) and/or hybrid (913H 19°) to a stiff shaft (I bought them second hand, near new, with regular flex Mitsubishi Diamana shafts like the driver). I'm curious what the opinions are on whether I can just buy a new shaft and this will do the trick or if it does need to be matched to the head exactly (neither are in budget currently but I don't use the wood and hybrid enough to warrant new ones, the existing will last for a good while yet). The owner of the shop was trying to sell me all new clubs and insisted I couldn't just buy a new shaft, and I get that may be the case for 100% accuracy, but surely you can get a 90% better fit by just switching around shafts without paying for a new head etc also?
